Locating and Importing Flight Logs on Android
Important note: the device used in this tutorial is a Google Pixel 3 XL running Android 9. Screenshots could change if running a different Android version. Additionally, DJI GO4 was used for demonstration. Pilot or Pro may be slightly different.
Locating and Importing from DJI Go 4
From your Android device, open the main menu and select the Files menu to be taken to a list of the files that are saved locally to your device:
Once Files has been selected, click your local device to enter the device files (as seen below), and then navigate to DJI -> dji.go.v4 -> FlightRecord
Once in the FlightRecord folder, you’ll see the stored local copies of all your DJI log files. One of these files is generated locally each time you take off/land an airframe. Each file also shares a common naming convention. It’s always DJIFlightRecord_Year_Month_Day[addtl]. Find the flights that match the timeframe that you’re looking for from this list, and select them to share. From there, use your preferred method to get those files to a laptop or other computer where you can design an operation and prepare them for upload.
Locating Importing from DJI Fly on Android.
Finding the same logs for DJI Fly differs from the process shown above. To do so, please follow the steps below.
From your Android device, open the main menu and select the Files menu to be taken to a list of the files that are saved locally to your device:
From here you will open the following folders Internal storage->Android->Data->dji.go.v5-FlightRecord.
Locating and Importing Flight Logs on iOS (Apple)
To locate DJI Flight Logs on an iOS device, first make sure that your device is on the latest version of iOS and that your iTunes version is up to date.
Open iTunes and then plug your device into your computer. Once your device is connected there will be an icon near the upper-left hand corner. Click on that to access your device.
After you're connected to the device, click on File Sharing. Then select the app you used to fly. Then find and click on the FlightRecords folder. After that, make sure you scroll all the down to reveal the Add File and Save options. Click on Save.
A window will appear and you can choose where to save the FlightRecords folder to. We recommend using your Desktop for easy access when uploading flight records into Skyward. Click Select Folder when you're ready to save.
At the top of the iTunes program you will see a progress bar. Once the transfer completes you're ready to upload your flight logs into Skyward.
Using the Flight Records
Now that you've gotten the flight records off your device, the next step is to get those flight records loaded into an Operation in Skyward, so that they can count toward Pilot, Airframe, and Battery hours.
This will outline how to add your flight logs to an existing operation, if you don't have an existing operation already created, first create one, then follow the below steps. If you need help creating an operation see Planning Flight Areas.
Go to the Operations tab and select the operation you want to import your flight logs into.
Once inside the operation, click on the Flights tab.
Click Import Flight. If you already have flights in this operation, click on Add Flight, then Import Flight.
You'll then be prompted to find the flight log on your computer, navigate to the location you saved your files and select one. You can only select one file at a time.
You’ll be taken to a screen where additional information can be added relative to that flight. Most of this information populates directly from the log, so there aren’t many options that need to be chosen at this point. Just hit Save to continue.
Repeat this process for any additional flight logs that may need to come into the system. When done, you should be showing a single operation that contains all the necessary flights.
