Data analytics reporting is crucial for running a business, generating compliance reports, optimizing workflows and in general running your business. Skyward supports these business activities by enabling downloadable reports of your activities in Skyward.
Accessing Reports
To download a .csv activity report from Skyward, first select 'Manage' , then Reports
- Check the box if you wish to include affiliated organizations
- Choose a date range. Make sure the Start date is before the End date
- Click “Download Report.” After a brief pause, depending on the amount of records that you are downloading, you will receive a CSV (comma separated file) that you can open in Excel or any other reporting or data processing software program.
- NOTE: Enterprise Subscribers are authorized to use Skyward’s Data Reporting API to automatically retrieve operational data for use in most Business Intelligence Platforms.
- Read more about APIs here, or find out how to use APIs in Skyward.
Download Fields
Skyward downloads select fields within the application.
Note that all associated times in your report will be in UTC versus local time.
Standard Fields
- Operator Name
- Operation Name
- Operation Start Date (UTC)
- Operation End Date (UTC)
- Flight Name
- Flight Start Date (UTC)
- Flight End Date (UTC)
- Flight Duration
- Flight Location
- Flight Lat Long
- Aircraft Name
- Aircraft Make
- Aircraft Model

Custom Fields
In addition to the Standard fields, Skyward will download custom fields from select categories of objects in Skyward:
- Organization Custom Fields
- Operation Custom Fields
- Flight Custom Fields
- Drone Custom Fields
In order to download a custom field from these items, a special tag must be prefixed to the custom field label. The special tag is:
REPORT:
Example:
For example, you have an existing custom field “Equipment Malfunctions” on your Flights and you want the field to be downloaded in the CSV report. Simply prefix “REPORT:” to your field: “REPORT:” + “Equipment Malfunctions” =
REPORT: Equipment Malfunctions
Now that field will be downloaded in your report.
Customizing Skyward
You can decide what operational data is provided in the report, as described above. To build a FAA compliant report, simply add the following custom fields to each of your flights:
REPORT: Lost Link Events
REPORT: Takeoff or Landing Damage
REPORT: Equipment Malfunctions
Please see the naming guide for more information about creating a naming system for ease of reportability and use.
