Commercial UAS pilots: On the Skyward Airspace Map, areas marked in red should be considered no-fly zones. This includes areas where flight may be prohibited or restricted as well as safety zones around airports and heliports.
The Skyward recommended safety zones are designed to provide a minimum of:
- 5 km around airports within controlled airspace.
- 3 km around airports that are not within controlled airspace.
- 1.5 km around heliports.
- For each runway with a length of less than 1200 meters, a runway protection zone of:
- 500 meters to either side of the runway.
- A minimum of 5 km in both directions along the runway centerline from the center point between the ends of the runway.
- For each runway equal to or greater than 1200 meters long, a runway protection zone of:
- 2500 meters to either side of the runway.
- A minimum of 10 km in both directions along the runway centerline from the center point between the ends of the runway.
Skyward recommends that you check national requirements before conducting any RPAS operations within a red area.
